Booklog

This is a simple log of my reading. Partially it is for my own reference, partially I find that comparing shelves can be interesting and enjoyable. I know I love to be a book voyeuer when visiting the homes of others. While it is not nearly as fun to browse an HTML table as physical shelves, on the other hand I find myself uninterested in utiliszing most of the book-focused social media websites.

Doubtless there are some titles that I have not recorded, both intentionally and not. For one, the log only dates as far back as the opening of 2020. As well, it is merely a list of completed readings. Starts, stops, and casual perusings—though a constant character of my reading habit—are ommitted. Apologies to the many books, some even especially interesting and thoroughly enjoyed, that have languished for days or for years around the apartment with a bookmark a modicum from the finish.¹

The year reflects the original year of publication. However, publisher and page count are derived from the edition at hand while reading. For audiobooks, instead of page count, play time is given in minutes.

For what it is worth, one should certainly not construe my picking up or finishing a book as an endorsement. I love to read what I love but sometimes I love to read what I hate.

¹Most recently—and most egregiously—I picked up Margaret Killjoy's recent novel, The Sapling Cage, at the same time as a friend of mine, in December 2024. Over a couple of days, I cruised through all but the last fifty pages. I then proceeded to banish it to a rotating series of piles in my apartment, ignoring several pleas to pick it up again. It was nearly June before I spontaneously picked it up and finished it over breakfast.
